Results are in for Davenport’s Primary Election

DAVENPORT, Iowa (KWQC) – Results are in for the City of Davenport’s primary election. The primary is to narrow down the candidates running for Davenport’s mayor.

Four candidates ran for the position, including:

Gordon and Lee will move on to the general election.

In March, Mayor Mike Matson said he will not be seeking re-election. Matson took office in 2020, and won his third term in November 2023.

Results are also in for several open alderman seats.

3rd Ward Alderman

Jim Contois: 172 votes, 43.7% of the vote
Paul Vasquez: 161 votes, 40.9% of the vote
Nicole Wallace: 60 votes, 15.2% of the vote

Wallace will not be advancing to the November ballot.

5th Ward Alderman

John Blunk: 525 votes, 54.97% of the vote
Sheilia Burrage: 137 votes, 14.3% of the vote
Tim Kelly (incumbent): 291 votes, 30.5% of the vote

Burrage will not advance to the November ballot.

7th Ward Alderman

Derek O Cornette: 66 votes, 10.3% of the vote
Mark Holloway Sr.: 211 votes, 32.9% of the vote
Chris J. Jerome: 151 votes, 23.5% of the vote
William Pamperin: 84 votes, 13.1% of the vote
Kelly Lynn Wallace: 129 votes, 20.1% of the vote

Cornette, Pamperin and Wallace will not advance to the November ballot.

Scott County Auditor Kerri Tompkins will be overseeing the primary election for the City of Davenport.

“It’s great to see so many candidates interested in our local government,” Tompkins said.
