DAVENPORT, Iowa (KWQC) – Davenport will hold primary elections for aldermen in Wards 3, 5, 7 and citywide for the mayoral race.
The primary election will be held Oct. 7, Scott County Auditor Kerri Tompkins said.
Tompkins shared frequently asked questions and answers so voters can be prepared for election day:
Q: How can I prepare for Election Day?
- The deadline to sign up for pre-registration is Sept. 22
- Pre-registration means a voter’s name and address will appear in the voter records on Election Day to speed up processing time at the polls
- Keep your voter registration up-to-date
Q: How can I have an absentee ballot mailed to my home?
- The deadline to request an absentee ballot is Sept. 22
- Completed request forms must be at the auditor’s office by 5 p.m. Sept. 22
- Ballots will be mailed starting Sept. 17
- Absentee ballot request forms are available for download from the auditor’s website or the auditor’s office will mail if requested
Q: Where can I vote in person before Election Day?
- In-person early voting begins Sept. 17 and runs through Oct. 6 from 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.
- Voting can be done in the auditor’s office on the fifth floor of the Administrative Center at 600 W. 4th St. in Davenport
Q: When are absentee ballots due?
- Absentee ballots must be returned to the auditor’s office by 8 p.m. Oct. 7
- Ballots may be returned by mail or hand-delivered to the auditor’s office
- An absentee ballot drop box will be available starting Sept. 17 for voters at the Scott County Administrative Center on the west side of the parking lot
- The drop box will remain open until 8 p.m. Oct. 7
